Dr. Janet Ip is a Family Physician with special interest and training in Dermatology. After working as an associate at Pacific Derm for 12 years, she moved her skin-focused clinic to Cambie Village Family Practice. She is a Clinical Instructor at UBC and teaches Family Practice residents in the field of dermatology and the use of dermoscopy, both as a lecturer and clinician. She is currently accepting referrals for skin related issues with a booking time within 3-4 months.
Dr. Ip performs mole checks using a dermatoscope for melanoma and other skin cancer screening and performs biopsies and excisions of suspicious skin lesions. She treats skin cancers (basal and squamous cell carcinomas) by excision, electrodessication and curettage. Her interest and experience includes treating acne (including severe nodulocystic acne requiring Accutane), rosacea, eczema, psoriasis and melasma. She performs cortisone injections for keloid scars and alopecia areata, and cryotherapy (liquid nitrogen) for actinic keratoses, seborrheic keratoses and warts. She also excises moles and performs electrodessication and curettage for sebaceous hyperplasia.
